Trainings

Communities of Excellence Plus
A Community of Excellence is a community in which no tobacco use is the norm. Communities of Excellence Plus (CX Plus) is a comprehensive three phase program designed to maximize the strength of resources available within a state by focusing on the local level. CX Plus provides local tobacco control advocates with the tools, techniques, and support to:

  • Articulate the components of a local level comprehensive tobacco control program
  • Discuss the basics of effective programming at the local level
  • Describe the necessary elements of a comprehensive tobacco control approach
  • Assess their local tobacco control efforts in relation to a Community of Excellence
  • Develop an action plan to strengthen local tobacco control efforts.

Fundamentals of Evaluation Onsite Training
This two-day in-person version of the Fundamentals of Evaluation training is designed to teach participants how to plan a program evaluation through the use of visual aids, group discussion, examples, and practice. To request information about this training click here.

Fundamentals of Evaluation Web-based Training
As a 12-week distance learning program, the web-based training provides basic information and applied activities to gain the skills needed to develop a comprehensive evaluation plan. Participants learn about the importance of program evaluation, what to expect from their evaluation efforts, what is involved in an evaluation, and how to develop an evaluation plan. Sustainability Workshop
This training lays out strategies by which coalitions and organizations can position themselves to be sustainable for the long haul. The workshop prepares participants address the core of sustainability—developing a winning combination of strategy, planning, leadership, and fundraising—and will show them how to get where they want to be. TTAC also offers shorter stand-alone workshops on individual elements of the training including strategic planning, fundraising, and writing a winning proposal. Tobacco 101 Version 2
The updated and revised Tobacco 101 curriculum is provided in a two-day workshop designed to educate professionals new to tobacco control on the fundamentals of tobacco and tobacco prevention and control. The workshop will help participants be able to communicate persuasive arguments for tobacco control, understand the elements of comprehensive programming, locate resources and data, and identify and implement effective interventions.
