TCN Harvey Leadership Webinar Series
Applying the “DeMarco Factor” to Tobacco Control Policy Change-Part 2
Wednesday, June 8, 2011
12 p.m. PT/1 p.m. MT/2 p.m. CT/3 p.m. ET
Now that tobacco control has a foothold in all fifty states, US Territories and the District of Columbia, it is more important than ever to act strategically to maintain momentum. Diverse leadership roles work to both strengthen and challenge our tobacco control efforts. In a follow-up to the TCN’s May 11th webinar, veteran campaigners Vincent DeMarco, Michael Pertschuk, and Glenn Schneider will return to explain how tobacco control program leaders can bring together the needed perspectives in an inclusive, strategic advocacy campaign.
A recording of the webinar is available. To listen to the call and see the slides, click here.
Agenda and Call Materials:
The leadership taxonomy materials posted here are the original expanded version of Chapter 15 in the published version of The DeMarco Factor: Transforming Public Will into Political Power. In the final published book, these materials were shortened to Chapter 15 for reasons of space, but, for learning purposes, the original chapters build more fully and illustratively upon the narrative in the webinar. – Mike Pertschuk
Participants will be able to:
- Identify the types of leadership necessary to advance a tobacco control policy agenda
- Assess their team’s leadership styles using the Leadership Taxonomy
- Understand how to utilize leadership strengths to build support for policy change.
