Managing Senior Fellow

Partnership for PreventionR is seeking a Managing Senior Fellow for our tobacco initiative. Partnership is a nonprofit, membership organization that works on the leading edge of health promotion and disease prevention, developing and disseminating insights that reveal the most effective prevention interventions and investments. Partnership analyzes critical health issues and provides decision-makers with innovative and feasible options for addressing them.
The Senior Fellows’ responsibilities include:
- Direct develop strategic policy approach to increase the delivery of high-impact, evidence-based cessation services
- Direct develop strategic policy approach to increase delivery of proven community preventive services
- Synthesize prevention research for use in health policy discussion and written materials
- Convene meetings among researchers, advocates, practitioners and policymakers
- Supervise junior fellow
- Grant writing and management
- Maintain project budget
- Develop policy papers on important tobacco control issues
- Lead and present at meetings and conferences when appropriate
- Assure timely completion of all products under tobacco grants
- Develop web and other communication materials on important tobacco topics
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree in health-related field or equivalent
- At least seven to ten years direct experience with tobacco policy-related positions in public health issues, prevention, medical, social science and/or behavioral fields
- Excellent writing and communication skills (high priority!)
- Background in grant management
- Interest in and commitment to an expanded view of health and the goals of Partnership for Prevention, including translating research into practical application
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize research from a broad range of disciplines and issues
- Proven ability to work with others, including networking, collaboration on group projects, project management and staffing advisory groups
- Demonstrate ability to manage staff
- Willingness to perform a variety of organizational work with minimal clerical support
