The Senior Manager, Technical Assistance and Training designs, implements, coordinates and provides technical assistance support and training for national, state and local organizations focused on tobacco prevention and control efforts.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing activities associated with federal, state and local level tobacco prevention and control technical assistance and training projects
  • Manage communication and working relationships with clients and collaborative partners
  • Assess technical assistance and training needs of identified tobacco control partners and/or clients
  • Provide support to other senior managers and directors, assisting in the design and development of client-specific technical assistance services, training materials, reports and/or program evaluations.

Other Duties:
Other responsibilities may include the following:

  • Plan, administer or monitor the program's budget or grants
  • Serve on, hold office in or chair committees
  • Research and identify funding sources; writing and submitting grant proposals
  • Maintain complete accurate program records
  • Serve as a trainer and/or meeting facilitator

Supervisory Responsibilites:
The Senior Manager, Technical Assistance and Training may supervise and/or assist with the supervision of graduate assistants and/or other student interns.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for this position are: a bachelor's degree and five years of related program management and/or training experience in tobacco control or other chronic disease areas; or, an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications for this position are: a relevant master's degree or specific training in public health education/health behavior or a related field; five or more years of work in tobacco prevention and control, with at least three years in a project management capacity; Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES).

Other Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Knowledge of population/community health perspective and social determinants of health. Good organizational, analytical and prioritization skills. Ability to work within complex systems at the Rollins School of Public Health/Emory University (RSPH). Ability to efficiently respond to questions from national tobacco control partners, RSPH faculty and staff, TTAC staff and members of the community. The ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form and effectively present information to TTAC management, tobacco control national partners, public groups, and TTAC contractors. Ability to take initiative, to work independently as well as to work in supervised team settings. Ability to coordinate and maintain multiple tasks. Must work with sound judgment, diplomacy and a professional demeanor. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Outlook) and database management.
