"Where quality is the thing sought after, the thing of supreme
quality is cheap, whatever the price one has to pay for it."

Why Evaluation is Worth the Resources

Evaluation is probably the most important thing you can do to ensure that a new program will be effective and that existing programs continue to be effective. By conducting evaluation, you are helping to validate the program’s purpose and ensure continued program support. Without evaluation, it’s uncertain what impact --- positive or negative -- your strategies are having on the audience. In other words, you have no proof that your program is achieving its intent.

Just as we would not use a vaccine that was untested, we should not use tobacco prevention and control interventions that have not been tested. Ineffective or insensitive programs can build public resentment and cause people to resist future, more effective, interventions. Investing the time and effort into evaluating tobacco control programs to determine how well a program is meeting needs pays big dividends.

Here are some reasons why evaluation is worth the resources. Click on each for more.
