It’s Easier Than You Think

Evaluation is much easier than most people realize. When a tobacco prevention and control program is well designed and well run, it already produces most of the information needed to evaluate its effectiveness. The key to a successful evaluation is also the key to a successful program: preparation. The effort you put into the program’s design and operation determines not only what your program will accomplish, but also the ease with which you will be able to evaluate those accomplishments.

The information needed to evaluate the effects of your program will develop naturally and almost effortlessly if you put the necessary time and resources into designing a good program, pilot testing your proposed procedures and materials, and keeping detailed records while the program is in operation.
