of the Fundamentals of Evaluation
Web-based course!

Why should I take this course?

Evaluation plays a critical role in demonstrating program accountability and improving program effectiveness. Too often in public health, program evaluations are overlooked because staff are not prepared to develop and implement evaluations. Fundamentals of Evaluation helps professionals overcome this barrier as it guides participants through the evaluation process – from planning to reporting results – while giving them the opportunity to develop their own evaluation plan.

Who should take this course?
YOU! The course is designed for public health professionals with a desire or need to gain a better understanding of evaluation and evaluation planning. Whether you will be completing an evaluation, planning one, assisting with an evaluation, or choosing an evaluator, it is valuable to understand the Fundamentals of Evaluation.

When is this course offered and what does it entail?
The Fundamentals of Evaluation course starts August 30, 2010. It continues for 12 weeks and ends on November 19, 2010. The course contains 7 modules; each module is covered in two weeks, and each module requires a commitment of between 3 and 5 hours for learning activities.

What if I’ve never taken a web-based course before?
The Fundamentals of Evaluation web-based course is an interactive learning experience using visual aids, group discussion, self-assessments, and individual learning activities. Participants apply concepts presented in the lessons to build their evaluation skills. Because web-based learning may be new to some participants, the first module focuses on how to navigate this online learning environment. Moreover, throughout the course participants have access to valuable resources and evaluation experts who provide ongoing feedback.
